Golden Hour

Sandbox Stage · Fri, Sep 25 · 6:36 PM

4K shoreline out-and-back · each athlete chip-timed

Wave 8 · 6:36 PMCombined team time60:00 capBib required
  1. Stage: report to the Sandbox Stage before the Masters Teams wave. The stage opens for wave staging at 5:15 PM; the rolling starts begin at 6:15 PM.
  2. Outbound: cross the START timing mat, run north along the shoreline with the ocean on the left, and stay left of the course markers.
  3. Turnaround: cross the timing mat, pass left of the marker, then turn right around it.
  4. Return: run south with the ocean on the right, stay right of the course markers, and cross the FINISH timing mat.

Race-day essentials

  • Team score is the combined official time of all three athletes; each athlete's time starts and stops at the timing mats.
  • Wear the issued chip bib visibly on the front. Do not fold, cover, remove, or tamper with it; all athletes must register at the turnaround mat.
  • The course contains hard-packed and soft sand. Shoes or water-friendly footwear are recommended but optional; athletes may run barefoot. The route does not enter the water.
  • Water is available at halfway as needed. Continue moving through the finish catch zone and follow volunteer or medical direction.
  • The course closes at 7:45 PM. An athlete who reaches the 60-minute cap receives a 60:00 score and is removed from the course.

Arrival checkpoint

If an athlete did not receive a bib at registration, report to Athlete HQ in the Athlete Lounge by 5:00 PM PST Friday. No additional bibs will be assigned after 5:00 PM; an athlete without an assigned bib may receive a DNF.

What each test rewards

Deadweight

Pair capacity, sandbag transitions, BMU durability, and uninterrupted hold discipline.

Golden Hour

Beach running economy, pacing cohesion, footwear choice, and heat management.

Redline

Individual sprint repeatability; round order should account for C2B risk and closing speed.

Pressure

Hold tolerance, efficient row/rope rotations, and clean-and-jerk barbell cycling under fatigue.

Echo

Bike contribution plan plus exact 15-rep snatch turns with clean exchanges.

Two Rounds

Gymnastics density, synchro rhythm, 30-ft HSW ownership, and late waterfall accuracy.

These are planning lenses inferred from the published workout structures, not organizer-provided standards or outcome predictions.
